Seasonal Irrigation Check Up List

Spring has sprung, flowers are blooming and birds are singing. Winter weather can be tough on irrigation systems so it is important to check your irrigation system in the spring. Here are a few basic things you should take a look at to be sure you irrigation system is in prime condition for the coming season.

  1. Check your sprinkler heads. Sprinkler heads are made to be hearty, but they don’t stand a chance against a lawn mower or other machinery. Replace cracked or worn sprinkler heads.
  2. Make sure dirt or other debris are not blocking the sprinkler heads.
  3. Take a look at your irrigation controls! Did you remember to spring forward? Be sure the time and date are set correctly on your irrigation system control.
  4. Give your valves some TLC. Take a good look at your valves and make sure they are set to the proper position. Valves that are not in top shape may result in leaks.
