In September, 2017, ECO Irrigation & Landscaping had the distinct honor of joining Hershel Woody Williams Medal of Honor Foundation in an effort to honor families of fallen service members.  The Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, dedicated to families in Central Texas who have lost a family member in military service, is the first of its kind in the state of Texas.

Austin Wood Recycling and Circle D Nurseries joined us in the project.  Austin Wood Recycling provided dirt, mulch, and decomposed granite for the project; and Circle D Nurseries provided all of the plants that went into the landscaping.

The monument was funded through fundraising efforts by the American Legion Hunter-Morris Memorial Post 911, and erected on land donated by the city of Cedar Park.  State Rep. Tony Dale was in attendance at the dedication ceremony, stating, “The title that no one wants is Gold Star Mother or Gold Star Father. There is indeed a heavy burden that comes with that, so our purpose here today is to recognize these families.  Not just the sacrifice of the service members, but the sacrifices of the families that go along with that.”
